Author's Journey

I was born in a little village, Ulleri, in Nepal. It is a village with about 110 stone houses grouped together on a steep hill surrounded by terraced fields. It sits at 6,700 feet elevation, a few hours walk west of Pokhara, the closest town. Our village sings with the stream down below. It snows during the winter and the monsoon's heavy rains fall during the summer.
After I attended three village schools, with the help of my older brother, Madan, I came to Kathmandu in 1985 for my further education. Being away from home, I began to write the stories of my past; how I lived peacefully in the village.
I went to three different boarding schools in Kathmandu and finished my high school in 1990. From a very early age, I had my dream to come to America to help our family and village. One day while I was walking up above our village I met an American tourist back packing. His name was Steve Wright. We became good friends on the trail. Later, with the help of his mother, Judith Wright, I came to America on August 29 - 1991. For two years I attended high school in California, and graduated in 1993. But obstacles rose from many directions and I began to struggle.
While being homeless, with the money I earned doing yard work at peoples' houses I bought more journal books and kept writing my stories in between my struggles. After spending seven years writing my stories on my journal books, I began to type my life stories in early 1998. While doing different odd jobs and moving from one place to another, I finished the book on August 1998 and self-published on September of 1998, under the same title, The Bridge Between Human Spirits. While continuously revising and editing my book, I have autographed and sold almost three thousand copies. This is Seventh Edition of my book, which comes from six years of continuous hard struggle in revising my life story.
